MENTORING
Throughout the programme you’ll be paired up with a member of the Bright Green Future team. Your mentor will keep in touch with you and help to make sure you get the most out of participating in the programme. They will also be able to give you support with setting up and running your local project.
Roy Kareem
Programme Manager and Mentor for London
Roy did his undergraduate degree in Zoology at Edinburgh University and followed that up with an MSc in Environment, Science and Society at University College London. He's worked as a conservation researcher, primary school teacher, and forest school leader before coming to work as BGF's programme manager.
Megan Blyth
Mentor for the South West of England
Megan has a BSc in Geography and during her time at university was a Geography Ambassador for the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. Megan comes from a bilingual Franco-British background, and is interested in environmental values and communication. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing and going for long walks!
Graham McGrath
Mentor for Scotland
Graham has a BSc in Earth Science and MSc in Environmental Studies. He is particularly passionate about facilitating local community action on renewable energy, climate change, and rewilding, and has worked on projects throughout the UK. His interest in sustainability arose from a lifelong love of the outdoors through rock climbing and surfing.
Rachel Haycock
Mentor for the North of England
Rachel has a Masters degree in Zoology from the University of Sheffield and spent some time travelling around South East Asia and conducting research in the Bornean rainforest. Before coming to CSE, she lived in Yorkshire and was involved with the ‘Inspiring People’ programme at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. She is interested in wildlife, enjoys travelling and has just returned from a trip to South America.
Charlie Leaman
Mentor for the Midlands
Charlie has a BSc Natural Sciences from the University of Bath and an MSc Climate Change Science and Policy from the University of Bristol. She has worked on a marine conservation education programme in Honduras and is passionate about environmental awareness, renewable energy and marine conservation.
Nick Stromberg
Mentor for the East
Nick has a BA in History from the University of Cambridge and an MA in History from the University of Bristol. Whilst completing his studies, he has worked on environmental projects across the UK and in Canada and is particularly passionate about urban greening and environmental justice issues. He also loves getting outside to play and listen to music!
Bella Peatfield
Mentor for the North of England
Bella’s background is campaigns and communications. Before coming to BGF she led the digital comms for The Great Get Together campaign, worked in refugee support, marine conservation in Guatemala and taught English in Colombia. She now spends her spare time on (and regularly off) a bike in the mountains. She has a BSc in International Business and French from the University of Birmingham.
Jess Knight
Mentor for the South
Jess works in the Development team, scoping out new projects and funding opportunities as well as helping with communications. Before joining BGF Jess has worked in Account Management at Softcat and Marketing and Communications at Monier Redland. Jess has a BA in History from The University of Exeter where she developed her love for climbing, rambling and running. She's just returned from walking 500 miles across Europe in the Camino de Santiago!
